I’m excited to share my experience with the Hand Held Dyno Ignition. I was initially drawn to it by the looks alone — it’s a seriously good-looking piece of kit — and the reviews (read them below) about how much it improves engine performance made it worth investigating. So I decided to give it a try.
The beautifully engineered components and the performance people were seeing make it clear this is a top-shelf ignition, with a price to match. That doesn’t bother me — I love my bike, and cheap parts just don’t do it for me, especially if they drag down potential performance.
But that's not all! It also does things no other ignition does. The tagline “It’s more than just an ignition” absolutely stacks up. I never imagined running an app on a street drag bike — I mean, what for?
That question was answered pretty quickly. Testing the ignition on the Dyno (read about it below), you should have seen the look on Mike from Black Cat Motorsport’s face when I showed him I could switch between nine pre-programmed ignition maps, wirelessly, from about 10 feet away, while the bike sat there with no cables attached. It’s genuinely impressive. And the app goes well beyond map switching. The Tuner Edition App can be used as a full digital dashboard, featuring:
- A large, clear tachometer with shift lights
- GPS speedometer
- Battery voltage monitoring
- Support for up to six engine sensors
