Introduced in 1976, the Kawasaki Z900 was the last 903cc development of the legendary Z1 before the arrival of the Z1000.
The original Z1 had begun life inside Kawasaki under the wonderfully unlikely project name “New York Steak.” Conceived initially as a 750, Kawasaki changed direction after Honda launched the CB750 and returned with something bigger, faster and more ambitious — the 903cc DOHC four that helped define the superbike.
By 1976 the formula had been refined into the Z900, with revised carburettors, a strengthened frame and, for European and Australian machines, twin front discs.
Elegant, muscular and instantly recognisable, the Z900 was the closing chapter of Kawasaki’s original Z1 story — and one of the definitive Japanese superbikes of the 1970s.

- Machine-wash cold, inside-out, on a gentle cycle with similar colours.
- Use mild detergent.
- Use non-chlorine bleach only when necessary.
- Do not use fabric softener.
- Do not dry-clean.
- Hang-dry where practical, or tumble-dry on low.
- If ironing is necessary, use a cool iron with the garment inside-out.
- Never iron directly over the print.
Proper care helps prevent fading, cracking and shrinking.
